Marina Shafir reflects on the first match she sent Jon Moxley while namedropping ‘The Fed’.
In June of 2021, Shafir was released from her WWE contract before later that year debuting in All Elite Wrestling. In 2024, she would align with Jon Moxley as part of The Death Riders, but before then, Shafir had been receiving advice and help backstage from Moxley for quite some time.
While speaking to Renee Paquette in a new interview, Marina Shafir spoke about the first time she sent Jon Moxley footage following her WWE release.
“The first match I sent Jon was my match with Masha from Bloodsport, my very first one. Because, I just got released from the Fed and I didn’t know what the fuck was going to happen. All I knew was that I had a mortgage to pay. I had to hustle. My son deserves the best education and I need to fortify myself and like establish myself. That’s what I did on that show. I’m forever grateful for Josh (Barnett). Cause I think that was like the relating, the relating factor.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Shafir had praise for Megan Bayne. You can read more about that here.
