Pat McAfee: I Am Green As Sh*t In That Business, That’s Why You’ll Never Hear Me Say ‘Yeah I Was Good In There’

Pat McAfee discusses still being green when it comes to competing inside the squared circle.

At WWE Backlash 2025, McAfee would go one on one with Gunther in the wake of ‘The Ring General’s’ World Heavyweight Championship loss at WrestleMania 41. While McAfee had competed in the ring before to success, he had not faced someone on the level of Gunther up until that point.

While speaking during the first episode of WWE: Unreal’s second season, Pat McAfee discussed how he was feeling about the bout.

“I am green as shit in that business. That’s why you’ll never hear me say, like, ‘yeah I was good in there.’ But you will definitely hear me say, ‘I’m fucking proud’. I don’t now how many more patches I’m ever gonna have, so I try to just take like, one polaroid basically.”

McAfee continued, sharing his feelings after the match with Gunther, discussing John Cena waiting for him backstage after the match.

“A little bit emotional, I was in a whirlwind. I get to the back, and John Cena was talking to me. He’s an actual GOAT talking to me and complimenting me.”
