Matt Hardy Gives His Take On Debut Episode Of TNA iMPACT, Says People From AMC Were Very Happy With It
Matt Hardy discusses the first episode of TNA iMPACT on AMC.
The company’s debut episode on AMC aired live on Thursday, January 15. The show was met with a controversial response, with some fans criticizing TNA for the lack of in-ring wrestling on the show.
Speaking on the latest episode of his Extreme Life podcast, Matt Hardy first noted that people from AMC were very happy with the show and how it went.
“I do know that the AMC people were very happy with it. This is their first venture into pro wrestling, sports content at all in the big scheme of things so they’re not very familiar with that. I know they have a hope, they want to see stories incorporated into this. I think the AMC people were blown away by the chaotic scene of doing a two-hour live wrestling show. Just seeing all these moving parts and everything that’s happening and stuff going and changes on the fly. I think they were pretty blown away and impressed by that at the end of the day.”
Hardy continued on and gave his opinion on the show, which ‘wasn’t perfect’.
“I think there was some really good stuff on it. There were also some issues that happened with the visa situations that made there be a lot of rebooking on the card. Once again, it was our first time out and it wasn’t perfect. I think we could have maybe switched up the pacing on some stuff a little more. We could have been a little more — kept things a little tighter. I think in television, in 2026, you have to keep a product that is boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Viewers attention spans are so short as it is anyway. But, we’re a work in progress and I don’t think anybody is going to say that isn’t true that is a part of this. Because as we’ve said before, it is TNA and we’re trying to grow into something bigger and it’s going to be a work in progress and a procedure. I think we will get there. When it was all said and done, I think everybody was just happy this first show happened. There were some really good stuff on it and we got through it. Was it perfect? No, I don’t think anybody is going to say that. But at the end of the day, AMC, they were very happy with us so that was very important.”
Hardy proceeded to shout out the AJ Styles segment, the Mike Santana/Frankie Kazarian match, and the Hardys/Order 4 match as the show’s best stuff.
