Rhea Ripley: My Biggest Career ‘What If’ Would Have To Be What If Tegan Nox (Nixon Newell) Didn’t Get Injured?

Ripley wonders how things would have turned out had the injury not happened.

It was back in 2018 during the quarterfinals of WWE’s Mae Young Classic tournament that Rhea Ripley and Nixon Newell, f.k.a. Tegan Nox, clashed. Early in the bout, Newell went for a suicide dive, and when she landed, she blew her knee out.

When Ripley recognized that Newell could not continue, she continued playing up the heel role and verbally chastised Newell.

As Ripley was speaking to Raj Prashad of Uncrowned, Ripley stated that her biggest career ‘what if’ is how things would have turned out if not for Newell’s injury.

“My biggest ‘what if’ would have to be what if Tegan Nox didn’t get injured? That’s my big one, because if that didn’t happen, I don’t know if Rhea Ripley would be here.”

Several years later, Newell would confirm that she was supposed to go to the finals of that year’s Mae Young Classic. The final ended up being Toni Storm versus IYO SKY.
