On the July 23rd, 2021 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Heyman would interrupt a promo from Cena, and upon making his way out to the stage, he would sing John’s iconic theme song, bringing a smirk to Cena’s face despite Heyman being the heel in the segment. Now, Heyman has suggested that Cena may not have been breaking character.
While speaking to Shak Wrestling in a new interview, Paul Heyman spoke about the segment, questioning if Cena was truly about to break character int he segment.
“Who said he was actually going to break character? How do you know that deep inside, he just couldn’t hold back his admiration for The Wise Man and who could blame him? My God, what a majestic singing voice I had on that day.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Heyman spoke about Seth Rollins’ style and if he needs to change things to avoid future injuries. You can read more about that here.
