Cody Rhodes Details His Pitch To WWE For Monthly House Shows
Cody Rhodes advocates for house shows to come back regularly.
There have been numerous times when Cody Rhodes has made media appearances, and he’s advocated for WWE to bring back house shows on a regular or semi-regular basis.
He addressed that again on the newest episode of his podcast titled What Do You Wanna Talk About?. Rhodes shared a pitch he made to WWE higher-ups about the idea of monthly house shows.
“I had suggested to some of the top brass in the company for a myriad of reasons: Camaraderie, the reps, the general sense of working here. It’s hard to think you work somewhere if you’re only there a couple of days a week, right? Versus the schedule for when we first started where it was full tours, live events and then you come to TV and then you’re home less time. Two days, right? And sometimes a day and a half, right? Half the travel day but, I had suggested to them, I said, ‘Run one weekend a month. Call them house shows. Make them almost poke the fourth wall a little bit in terms of what they are. They’re canon, but they’re not. You’re gonna see some of the stuff you see on TV, but it’s gonna be a bit more of a mixed bag and maybe you’re gonna see some people you’ve never seen before, who are getting their first rep in front of you and run them that way where there’s an intimacy to them that’s advertised. This is a house show. That’s what you guys are getting and it’s gonna be awesome.’ They’re so fun, so fun.”
Rhodes competed in the 2026 men’s Royal Rumble match, but was eliminated after he was given a ‘Claymore Kick’ by Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, who was not in the match. Rhodes and McIntyre are scheduled for the 2/6 Friday Night SmackDown.
