Je’Von Evans Says He Practiced Kofi Kingston-Style Spot For Royal Rumble Match, Explains Why It Wasn’t Used
Je’Von Evans didn’t want to copy Kofi Kingston in the Rumble.
Evans made an impressive stand in his Royal Rumble debut, lasting 40 minutes before being eliminated by Randy Orton — a two-time Rumble winner himself.
Speaking with Busted Open Radio for a new interview, Evans said that he practiced a Kofi Kingston-style spot for the match but decided to not use it out of respect.
“Going back to the Rumble, everybody was kind of expecting me to do the Kofi Kingston save like, ‘Oh, is he going to jump from the table to the apron or whatever?’ I tried it. I tried it and it worked but I’m glad we didn’t do it because I feel like Kofi, he made that so memorable and his. I don’t want to continue something that he already made legendary, you know? That was his thing so I want to create something that everyone looks at and goes, ‘Oh, that’s Je’Von Evans.’ I always want to be myself for sure.”
Elsewhere in a separate interview, Evans talked about his entire performance in the Royal Rumble match. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
