Kyle Fletcher Believes AEW Has Momentum Because Of Unpredictability
Kyle Fletcher regained the AEW TNT Championship on Wednesday’s Dynamite, defeating Tommaso Ciampa.
His victory was one of two title changes on the night as Thekla defeated Kris Statlander in a strap match to win her first AEW Women’s Championship.
Title changes on television are rare in wrestling, especially two on the same night.
Speaking to Downunder The Ring, Fletcher was asked about the unpredictability that AEW brings to wrestling.
“It’s part of the reason why kind of have the momentum we have right now. Wrestling was done a certain way, and still is being done a certain way. It’s following the rule book, it’s following what works. AEW, since its inception in 2019, it’s been about breaking that mold and stepping outside of the comfort zone and doing things that people don’t expect. That’s part of the reason why I love the company and why so many people love watching the company. It could be any random Dynamite or Collision; Tommaso Ciampa showed up and won the TNT Title in his first match in the company. It’s unheard of. It’s why it’s so cool and what I love this company and the wrestling landscape. It’s so fun,” said Fletcher.
Fletcher will defend his TNT Title against Mark Briscoe in a ladder match at AEW Grand Slam Australia on Saturday.
Elsewhere during the interview, Fletcher commented on a potential United Empire reunion. You can find his full comments here.
