Mustafa Ali says that he ‘bet his job’ on being able to pull off a risky spot doing his feud with Elijah.

At TNA Final Resolution at the end of last year, Ali would feature in a risky spot that featured Elijah tying him with rope to a horse and being dragged away as a result. The spot was one that had many variables, and for Mustafa Ali, he has now revealed he staked his job on the spot being pulled off.

While speaking to Rewind, Recap, Relive in a new interview, Mustafa Ali revealed that he bet his job on being able to pull off the spot with Elijah.

“The director of the show, comes out and he thinks the stunt’s not possible. He doesn’t, he doesn’t trust the horse. It’s live. If the horse gets scared, if he doesn’t pull, he’s like, you’re going to look like an idiot, and the big thing is that there was AMC executives there that day. You have to make a good impression, right? Like they don’t want to see something like, and especially on me too. They go, ‘who’s this guy?’ You know? So he’s very, I don’t think- this is where I’m going to pull the plug on this, and I just grab him by the hand. I go, I know. This seems like it’s- I guarantee you I can pull this off. He goes, how confident are you? For some reason, I said, ‘I bet my job on it. I was like, ‘if I don’t pull this off, you could fire me on the spot’, and he goes, ‘remember what you said’, and then walked away. I go, oh! We pulled it off. I didn’t get fired. So, yeah, yeah. But, yeah, sometimes, man, just, like, shoot or shoot, man. You know, there’s, I can’t, it’s not like me and the horse had some, like, synergy going on. I just- that’s one thing about me. Like, even if it’s dangerous, if I see something and I think I can pull it off, I’m going to go for it, you know? I’m going to grit my teeth and go for it. When the director- and rightfully so, he’s just protecting the product and, you know, the brand and me in a way, you know? But I just knew I could pull it off. So, yeah, that’s me putting all the chips on the table.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Ali explained what went into his decision to re-sign with TNA earlier this year. You can read more about that here.
