Ken Anderson recalls how The Undertaker pulling him aside before working together in the mid 2000s.
As he was being pushed to the forefront of the WWE SmackDown roster in 2006 and 2007, Ken Anderson, then wrestling under the name Mr Kennedy at the time, would face off with some of the rosters top names at the time, including The Undertaker.
While speaking to Pro Wrestling Culture in a new interview, Ken Anderson reflected on how The Undertaker pulled him aside prior to working a program together.
“It was so.. just a crazy feeling. To go from being a fan to being in the business and wanting a job with WWE. For six years, I clawed, and I scraped, and I scratched, and I just wanted to get a job with WWE so bad, and I worked really hard, and then to get there, and then to- win a title. It’s always nice when the company thinks highly of you enough to put a title on you because they view you in a certain way. But then, it was like, I just won that title and Undertaker himself pulled me aside and this was really crazy, and he said, ‘Hey, I just saw- I’ve been watching you. I’ve seen your work. I like what you do. I think we can make some money together, and I’m going to pitch something to Vince. Like a week later, he came up to me and he said, just so you know, Vince agreed with it and we’re going to go forward with it, and we’re going to get like three pay-per-views out of it. We’re going to be married to each other for a while. Literally for the next year or so, me, MVP, Kane and Undertaker were married and worked together. You know, whether it was tag matches, singles matches, run-ins on each other’s matches, you know, stuff like that. So I still, you know, I pinch myself. We’re professionals and we try to like- we can’t be fans in the back working with each other. But at the end of the day, we are fans. I’m a huge fan. I love wrestling. That’s why I decided to do it, you know, so.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Anderson spoke about what feud brought him into the world of professional wrestling. You can read more about that here.
