Over the past few months, Strong has found himself aligned with The Conglomeration, despite his issues with Cassidy. The pair have not grown closer in the time since Strong allied up with Kyle O’Reilly and the others, but is more than happy to take the blame for the tension.
While speaking on the Close Up With Renee Paquette, Roderick Strong was asked about the tension between he and Cassidy.
“I don’t know. I’d like to say the problem’s Orange, but yeah, we can put it on me. But… Well, it’s just one of these situations where, obviously the unfortunate thing that, happened to my best friend, Adam. Me and Kyle (O’Reilly) were kind of lost there for a second, and his suggestion was to hang around his other friends. I get it. The vibe is happy, go lucky. Everyone’s like, ‘yay, you’re the best, you’re the best.’ But if you look at my record and the things that I’ve done since I’ve been around them, it has not been the best, and I didn’t come to AEW to just be another name on the roster. You know, I’m not here to just have fun, get some new friends. We got to win and then hang. I just, being around them, even with Kyle out, you know, I’m trying to be the best friend that I possibly can be to Kyle and still associate with them, you know, The Conglomeration. But there are some things with Orange that, I don’t think I’ve fully let go from before when he was the International Champion. He just kept bugging me until I had to beat him for the title, and he was just annoying me so much. Then just being around him more now is very frustrating because I’m used to being around people that are going to push me. They’re going to challenge me. They’re going to make me continue to improve and become my best self, kind of feels like I get, like, participation trophies.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Orange Cassidy would name Bad Bunny as a potential WWE vs AEW match he’d like to have. You can read more about that here.
