Paul Heyman: The Attitude Era Was A Carbon Copy Of ECW

Paul Heyman believes that the Attitude Era was a carbon copy of ECW and was in fact, stolen from ECW.

Between 1997 and 2002, WWE would enter into their Attitude Era, while from 1992 to 2001, ECW would become a promotion that developed a substantial following at the same time. For Heyman, he feels the Attitude Era is plagiarism.

While speaking to Catch Club in a new interview at WWE’s 2K Creator Fest, Paul Heyman was asked how ECW inspired the Attitude Era, with The Oracle of The Vision noting his belief that the Attitude Era was a carbon copy of ECW.

“ECW was the Attitude Era. The Attitude Era was based on ECW. The Attitude Era was a carbon copy of ECW. The Attitude Era was stolen from ECW. This entire multi-billion dollar conglomerate was built on the concepts that came out of the bingo hall in Philadelphia, which were all done by me and the people in ECW. I mean, let’s be honest as to how this all happened, because that’s how it happened, and I don’t blame the billionaires for stealing the concept. If you’re going to steal, you steal from the best, and ECW was the best. That’s why, by the way, I am the last manager from the 1980s still standing, and I’m the last promoter from the 1990s still standing.

Elsewhere in another recent interview, Heyman stated his belief that he would class any match Logan Paul is in as WrestleMania main event worthy. You can read more about that here.
