Kris Statlander Shares She And Karissa Rivera Were Supposed To Be ‘Saucy and Cheesy’ On WWE SmackDown In 2019

Kris Statlander wrestled one match in WWE, working as an enhancement talent in 2019. She teamed with Karissa Rivera, who later signed with WWE as Elektra Lopez, to face The IIconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce) (now The IInspiration, Jessie McKay & Cassie Lee, in AEW), for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.

Statlander and Rivera went by The Brooklyn Belles, Karissa & Kristen.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Statlander shared the other idea for the team.

“Well, originally the team name was supposed to be the Brooklyn Pizza Connection, and we were supposed to be named Saucy and Cheesy,” she said.

Asked if she was going to be Saucy or Cheesy, Statlander replied, “I don’t know, we never got that far, but those were the options. Then it was the Brooklyn Belles, and then just used our first names. But I was like, that would have been iconic to have been either saucy or cheesy, and my only match there was a tag title match. So what a way to go, to go in and go out right away. Yeah. But then now I have tag titles at AEW to go for, and maybe I’ll be Saucy or Cheesy or Garlic or Oregano, something like that.”

Statlander has found much more success in AEW, where she is a former AEW TBS Champion and former AEW Women’s Champion.
