Cody Rhodes Explains Why He Wasn’t Mad When Roman Reigns Called Him A Politician
During their longstanding rivalry, Roman Reigns referred to Cody Rhodes as a “politician,” citing how Cody dresses and acts with his whole “kissing babies and shaking hands” routine.
The line could also be viewed as to how Cody moves backstage, where wrestlers routinely try to “politic” their way into better spots.
Speaking on What Do You Want To Talk About? Cody explained why he wasn’t mad at the line from Roman, and how things work backstage in WWE.
“Roman Reigns called me a politician one time, and I remember thinking, ‘I’m not mad at that.’ I grew up in the business. Everyone is, to a degree. To me, there is politics and posturing, and then there is snaking and backstabbing. One of the great things about you [Gunther] as a peer and as a wrestler in the locker room, just straight up. I think a lot of guys on our modern roster are straight up. ‘This is what I think is better. This is what I think isn’t. Let’s talk about it.’ Someone is going to make a decision, but the opinion has been weighed. You can smell when you get around the ones today, ‘This is going to be really good for you,’ and you can already tell, ‘No, it’s not. I can tell it’s not even for me,'” said Cody.
Cody previously revealed that he has been approached to run for office in Georgia. You can find his full comments here.
Elsewhere during the interview, Cody revealed what he thinks is missing from wrestling. Learn his answer here.
