Robert Stone Reflects On Being Ava’s Assistant General Manager On WWE NXT, Thinks He’s ‘Killing It’ As Interim GM

Robert Stone feels he’s doing a great job in his new role.

Following Simone Johnson a.k.a. Ava leaving WWE, a new General Manager for the NXT brand had to be appointed. That role was assigned to Robert Stone on an interim basis, as Stone had already been serving as Ava’s assistant.

Stone is a month into his role, and he spoke about it on Busted Open After Dark. He was asked how it felt to be the assistant to Ava, but having more on-screen experience than her. Stone said he loves being in any role, and television time is television time. He feels that the assistant role helped him in the long run.

“Well, here’s the thing, at this point, you know me, I am happy to be doing anything. Television time is television time so even being an assistant to Ava, the reality is it gave me — because it lasted about, give or take, two years — it gave me two years to learn how to be the interim G.M. without being the interim G.M. yet, which is why I felt that right now I’m doing such a good job, because I kind of was on the backburner just watching it all happen, and now that it’s mine to have, I was fully prepared for it. So I think in the long run, it helped me.”

Stone proceeded to give himself an A grade for the job he’s done thus far in the on-screen interim G.M. role. He thinks he’s ‘killing it.’

“It’s been about a month. Four weeks.” Stone was then asked to grade himself, “Honestly, an A. I’m killing it. That’s how I feel.” Bully Ray asked Stone if there was any ego behind those words, and he replied, “No, no. I think that I am. I think that I am. Look, nobody’s perfect. I think if you wanna dissect something, you can maybe say this or that but the reality is, what am I doing wrong?”

Stone was featured multiple times on the 3/3 NXT on The CW.
