Persephone Says She Learned Of Interest From WWE Through Others

Persephone is one of the rare wrestlers to be on a double contract as she competes in both AEW and CMLL. The dual contract was announced in January.

Persephone made her CMLL debut in 2023, and has competed at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, and on ROH TV.

Speaking to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Persephone discussed her dual contract.

“I think it’s probably one of the coolest opportunities I’ve had because I think it’s a really unique time for wrestling in the sense that I was picked up by a big company in the US, but without having to leave my roots, without having to leave the company that really took off with Persephone. Don’t get me wrong, I was wrestling way before that. But I think the company that just gave Persephone that pad to jump from was always CMLL and that’s where I’ve always felt at home. So I think it’s a really unique time in wrestling where I can now wrestle for a big company in the US without leaving my home company, and it’s something really great to be able to go back and forth,” she said.

Asked about WWE’s interest and if they have reached out to her, she replied, “I learned of the interest from others. I’ve been in Mexico for three, four years now, I wasn’t fully aware of the US scene or how contracts in the US work. I’ve always just been in Mexico doing my thing. So from what I understood, while being under contract with CMLL, I don’t think there was a way to have communication. I learned after the fact and everything from media and everything. I think it’s really crazy, right? As a kid watching different brands and dreaming about something as big as this and now having interest from different companies is something really crazy.”

Persephone is set to challenge Mercedes Mone for the CMLL World Women’s Championship at CMLL La Noche De Las Amazonas on March 6.
