Swerve Strickland: Triple H Was Dodging Me When I Was Coming Up With Creative Questions

Swerve Strickland says Triple H dodged him when he asked creative questions with him in NXT.
In 2019, Swerve Strickland signed with WWE and joined the NXT brand, where he created the Hit Row stable. They debuted on WWE SmackDown in 2021, but just weeks later, all members of the stable were released from their contracts.
Speaking on the Kings of the Ring podcast, Swerve talks about how Hit Row became a thing in NXT. He also reveals that before that, Triple H wasn’t really paying attention to him.
“Triple H, me and him were just going back and forth. He was dodging me when I was coming up with creative questions. Finally, I think it was Stephanie McMahon that really told me, ‘He’s my favorite heel on the show.’ Then that’s where [they were] like, ‘Okay, now we really got to start putting some fire behind Swerve.’ They were like, ‘Hey, I think we’re gonna put this group behind you. How do you feel?’ I didn’t do groups at the time. I was independent, jumping from city to city, country to country. So running a group was just not my thing. I didn’t know how to. But the group became more like them being backing for me. We became a gelled group, all four corners. The time was good. It was fine. I wish we had more time together with it. But things happen.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Swerve talked about John Cena’s rapper gimmick. Fans can check his comments here.
