Claudio Castagnoli Discusses His CMLL World Title Reign, ‘It Feels Very Special To Me’

Claudio Castagnoli is proud of his current run with CMLL.

As most fans know, Castagnoli is currently at the top of CMLL, as he holds the promotion’s World Heavyweight Championship. Since winning the belt in November 2025, Castagnoli has defended against names like Ultimo Guerrero, Josh Alexander, Roderick Strong, and Xelhua.

Speaking with Dirt Sheet Radio for a new interview, the 25 year veteran spoke about his ongoing stint with the promotion.

“It feels very special for me. Like you mentioned, I’ve been doing this for quite a while and I’ve been a fan of CMLL — I’ve been trying to work for CMLL for almost twenty years. To see this come full circle and to represent the company, I don’t take this lightly at all. I’m very proud of it and I’m very proud of being part of that tradition. You mentioned how CMLL is doing so well right now and it’s incredibly popular — I would just be happy to be a part of CMLL at any point. But, to be part of it at this point, I just feel like the pressure is on even more to represent it well and for me to honor the tradition and to be the best CMLL World Heavyweight Champion there is.”

Castagnoli will once again clash with Ultimo Guerrero at CMLL’s show on March 13. Learn more about that match by clicking here.
