AJ Styles: There Was A Moment In Time Where We Thought Abyss Was Going To Be In The Royal Rumble, I Guess Somebody Didn’t Agree With It

AJ Styles says WWE considered Abyss for the Royal Rumble.

Abyss, also known as Chris Parks, last wrestled in 2019. Last year, the wrestler told Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp that he had no plans to wrestle again. He joined WWE as a producer in 2019 and still works there.

On his Phenomenally Retro podcast, AJ Styles discussed his former TNA colleague. During the conversation, Styles revealed that Abyss was once considered for a Royal Rumble appearance (something Cody Rhodes has been trying for years). Styles said:

“There was a moment in time where we thought we were going to have him in the Royal Rumble. It didn’t go through and I hate that for him. I wish it hadn’t. It would have been just like, ‘Ah okay. Stamp on Abyss, the character finally made it to the WWE.’ I would have wanted that. I guess somebody didn’t agree with it.”

In another episode of his podcast, AJ Styles discussed his current role in WWE following his retirement. Fans can check his comments here.
