Nic Nemeth: My Last WWE Contract Was To Keep Me From Going To AEW

Nic Nemeth was released by WWE in September 2023, ending his 19-year run with the company. Following his release, Nemeth said that he had a year-and-a-half left on his contract.

Speaking to Jonathan Coachman on Off The Ropes, Nemeth said that his last WWE contract was signed to keep him from going to AEW.

“My last contract was to keep me from going to AEW. That was it. It was winked and not said, but it was completely understood. I go, I’m asking for this elaborate amount because I know you won’t pay me what I’m worth. I’m gonna make a move. I’m going elsewhere. They go, nope, we’ll do it. I go, ‘what? Okay,'” he said.

It is unclear when Nic Nemeth signed his last deal with WWE.

He joined TNA Wrestling after being released by WWE, but did make a one-night return to WWE as part of John Cena’s Last Match Tournament.
