In 2023, one of pro wrestling and WWE’s most iconic heels of all time, The Iron Sheik, would sadly pass away at the age of 81 years old. While his passing would draw many posts and quotes from those in the industry, one of his greatest rivals has reflected on Sheik’s funeral.

While speaking to Going Ringside in a new interview, Sgt Slaughter spoke about being the only wrestler to attend Sheik’s funeral.

“Yeah, he was one of those guys that no matter how many times he knocked him down he was back up looking you right in the eye. In 2023 he passed, and I was the only wrestler at his funeral, which I thought was pretty horrendous that I was the only wrestler to go to his funeral and he lived in Atlanta where all the wrestlers lived, so I thought that was kind of a slap in the face. So much, so much for not only for wrestlers, but for the professional wrestling business.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Slaughter spoke about wanting to put his Cobra Clutch up against Stone Cold Steve Austin’s Stunner. You can read more about that here.
