MVP Shares That When He Suffered Knee Injury During Pandemic Era Of WWE, He Was Asked To Hold Off On Getting Surgery
MVP was asked to stick around so he could remain The Hurt Business’ vocal representative.
It has been six years since the group once known as The Hurt Business (MVP, Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley & Cedric Alexander) was a focal point on WWE television. Present day, MVP, Lashley, and Benjamin are signed to All Elite Wrestling and are known as The Hurt Syndicate.
While on the Battleground Podcast, MVP spoke about how he landed in the managerial role for the group. He remembers suffering a knee injury during the pandemic era of WWE. He stated that he was asked to hold off on getting his knee fixed so he could continue being on screen with The Hurt Business.
“I fell into the vocal representative part by accident. I was the full-fledged wrestling member of the previous incarnation of our group, and I hurt my knee, and my wrestling was diminished but because of my gift of gab, I was still out front, talking up for the guys, and unfortunately… let’s just say it took several months before I was allowed to have my knee fixed. I was asked to please continue, and I slipped into a managerial role. It was never something that I sought out. But I love it, because it’s extended my career.”
The last time Lashley wrestled for AEW was at the 2025 Full Gear pay-per-view. Benjamin was last in action on the 1/7/26 Dynamite. The latest update on Bobby Lashley can be read here from Lashley himself.
