John Cena briefly speaks about a potential new role with WWE following his in ring retirement from the company.

In December of last year, Cena retired from in ring competition after losing a singles match with Gunther at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. While Cena vowed this would be his true swan song from the ring, he left the door open for roles outside of the ring, and now, Cena has discussed one possibly becoming a reality.

While speaking at MEGACon Orlando (via Kickin’ It With Keegan), John Cena briefly spoke about how he is working on a new role with WWE, noting that he is crossing his fingers that it works out.

“I am working diligently to try to figure out my next path as a contributing, useful member of WWE I think I might crack the code, and I think we have something, and if the stars align and everybody signs off, I will be a whole lot more integrated in the system, and I’m very excited about the road ahead, and I’ll just cross my fingers that it works.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Cena spoke about knowing AJ Styles was planning to retire in January prior to their Crown Jewel Perth event last year. You can read more about that here.
