Carlos Silva Explains Why He Does Championship Presentation After Title Bouts

TNA President Carlos Silva has had a minor presence on TNA television, most notably presenting the champion with the title after bouts.
Speaking to SeventySix Capital Sports Leadership Show, Silva was asked about being more of an on-screen character.
“It’s a real-life character. Everyone is like, ‘Why are you playing this character?’ I’m not playing a character. I am the President and these are the things that the President does. I’m trying to bring a little of that to the organization, whether it’s talking backstage or putting a belt on a champion. I think it’s important that there is a representative from the business that is honoring the champion. In some organizations, the referee gives them the belt. We decided that if it’s not me, it’ll be someone on the team that will give the belt to them. We’re going to definitely keep doing it. It’s kind of evolved, and it’s the way we’ve always run organizations. It’s nothing new. I get flack about it. Some people think it’s good, some people think it sucks. It all comes with the territory,” he said.
Elsewhere during the interview, Silva said TNA Slammiversary will return to UBS Arena, though that isn’t official.
