Brock Lesnar Speaks About 10-Year, $20 Million Guaranteed Contract He Signed With WWE In 2003

A long-term deal was inked the year before Lesnar left.

Brock Lesnar exited WWE in 2004 after his match against Goldberg at WrestleMania 20. He would not return to the company until 2012.

Going into WrestleMania 42, Lesnar sat down with Spittin’ Chiclets and opened up about a myriad of subjects, including his first run in WWE. Lesnar spoke about the new contract he signed with WWE in 2003, which was a year before he left. He said it was for 10 years and $20 million.

“John Cena was very happy (that I left WWE in 2004),” Lesnar said in reaction to the co-host saying Cena was happy Lesnar left the company when he did because Cena took off after that. “Because a year before I left, I just signed a new contract. It was a 10-year contract, $20 million guaranteed, and I’m 22 years old… The company was pretty chapped at me at the time because they invested a lot into me, and I understand that now but, if I would have stayed there, I wouldn’t be who I am today either. I’m glad that I had enough wits about me to leave. But, everything turned out.”

Lesnar is scheduled to face Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42, and for the second week in a row, Femi got the best of Lesnar. For more on that, click here.
