At Wrestle Kingdom 17, Omega would face off with Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Championship in a match of the year contender bout. For his entrance for the event, Omega would feature references to Sephiroth, a character from the Final Fantasy video game series.
While speaking during an interview with Fall Damage where he would match video game quotes to the characters that said them, Kenny Omega briefly reflected on his Wrestle Kingdom 17 entrance.
“I take a lot of nods and a lot of inspiration from video game characters, and Sephiroth has always been one of my most favorite villains in all of video game history. I was lucky enough to even come out to a rendition of One Winged Angel at the Tokyo Dome, one of my favorite entrances of all time. Boy, I would have been the fraudest of all frauds if I couldn’t get that one right.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Omega spoke about AEW’s partnerships with NJPW and CMLL. You can read more about that here.
