Kenny Omega shares that he texted Cody Rhodes to congratulate him on being cast in the upcoming Street Fighter movie.

Omega has always had a connection to Street Fighter as a gaming franchise, and recently did motion capture for Street Fighter 6. Meanwhile, a Street Fighter movie featuring WWE’s Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes is set to release on October 16th later this year.

While speaking to Fall Damage in a new interview, Kenny Omega briefly spoke about Cody Rhodes being cast as Guile in the upcoming project.

“I remember one of the first things I did when it was released that Cody was going to play Guile. I gave him a message and I said to him, I said, hey, hey, Codes. I said, ‘I just want to say congrats, and I know the old me would have been just fuming. He would have been jealous. He would have been upset that you got this role.’ I said, ‘but I’m just excited and happy for you,’ and if there is a Street Fighter 2, then absolutely. I’d love to play Alex. I would need to know in advance because I would have to do something about packing on like 50 to 60 pounds of lean muscle mass.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Omega reflected on making his entrance at Wrestle Kingdom 17 as another video game character. You can read more about that here.
