Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 was released on Nintendo 64 in 2000, and was a game that was exclusively available in Japan, setting it apart from the WWE games of that era. For one modern professional wrestler, it remains one of the greatest wrestling games of all time.
While speaking to Fall Damage in a new interview, Kenny Omega spoke about the game, noting his belief that it is his favorite wrestling video game ever created.
“Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, I would say, is the best wrestling game of all time. Both for the roster and for the wrestling and mixed martial art mechanics to it. If AEW were ever to get back into the mix with video games, we had the director of the AKI engine games, Geta-san, of course. We were lucky enough to have him as an advisor for our original project, but I always really wanted him to have more power. More ability to control the narrative and flow of the game.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Omega spoke about congratulating Cody Rhodes following his casting in the Street Fighter movie. You can read more about that here.
