Maya World: ‘A Lot Happened Backstage That Night’ When Hyan & I Filled In On AEW Collision

Maya World looks back at that night.

Advertised for the November 8th, 2025 episode of AEW Collision was a tag team bout between TayJay (Anna Jay & Tay Melo) versus Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize. Newell and Alize have since gone on to explain that the match did not take place because it was mutually agreed that three minutes was not enough time to work.

Newell and Alize met with AEW and then exited the venue. Newell said there is no bad blood between the two parties.

Filling in for Newell and Alize were Maya World and Hyan, who have gone on to form a team in AEW/ROH. World guest appeared on Off The Ropes with Thunder Rosa and Jonathan Coachman and spoke about that night in November.

Rosa: “Which by the way, Maya, it reminds of the story of how… We were just talking about when somebody is gone, somebody else gets an opportunity and they stepped up. Her and your tag team partner got an opportunity to have another match on TV, right? And then from there on, you guys were signed.”

World: “A lot happened backstage that night.”

Rosa: “Yes, I remember. It was in Texas. I do remember.”

World: “Like you said, we stepped up and of course, me and Hyan were two of the women that were always picked for extra work and always back there so I think, like I said before, Tony’s not just offering anybody a contract. He’d seen us and the work we’d been putting in. So, us stepping up, it meant a lot to him and I think that’s ultimately the reason we got signed. But I always say, we were always working hard so we were gonna get that eventually. It just kind of sped up the process.”

A month later, at AEW’s Worlds End pay-per-view, World and Hyan received their #AllElite graphic. The duo last teamed at ROH x MPX Global Wars in January.
