Gabe Kidd Returns To NJPW At Sakura Genesis, Targets Yota Tsuji

Gabe Kidd has his sights set on Tsuji’s remaining belt.

There is a new IWGP Heavyweight Champion in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and it is Callum Newman. He bested Yota Tsuji to capture the gold and become the youngest-ever IWGP Heavyweight Champion at 23 years of age.

Post-match, Newman and Will Ospreay had a moment where Ospreay put the belt around Newman, and then they embraced each other.

Tsuji was on the outside of the ring and was ambushed by a masked individual. That individual revealed themselves to be All Elite Wrestling’s Gabe Kidd. Kidd took off his jacket, and he had a shirt with an AEW logo on it. Kidd opted to depart New Japan, and he, alongside David Finlay and Clark Connors, put pen to paper with AEW.

Shingo Takagi showed up to stop Kidd, but was laid out as well. Kidd then snatched up Tsuji’s remaining title, the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. They clashed over the belt three times in 2025, and Tsuji is up 2-1 on the scoreboard.
