Yoshihisa Kishimoto, Director On WWF Superstars And WWF Wrestlefest Games, Passes Away

Video game developer Yoshihisa Kishimoto has passed away at age 64. He died on April 2.

Yoshihisa Kishimoto is best known as the creator of Kunio-kun (Renegade) and Double Dragon. For wrestling fans, he was the director of the arcade games WWF Superstars and WWF Wrestlefest.

WWF Superstars was released in 1989, while WWF Wrestlefest came out two years later.

His son, Ryūbō Kishimoto, shared the following message on Facebook: “I am sorry to inform you that my father has passed to rest on 04/02/2026. Thank you very much for everything you have done for me during my life. Please forgive us that we will perform at the family funeral. I hope you will continue to enjoy my father’s works, including Kunio-kun.”
