Concussion & CTE Foundation Reveals Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael Had CTE

The Concussion & CTE Foundation revealed that NFL Hall of Famer, the late Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael, had CTE.

McMichael passed away in 2025 at 67 years old after battling ALS. A statement was released by Misty McMichael, the widow of Steve McMichael, through the Concussion & CTE Foundation:

Too many NFL players are developing ALS during life and diagnosed with CTE after death. I donated Steve’s brain to inspire new research into the link between them.

McMichael spent four years in the pro wrestling business with WCW. He had nearly 160 matches in his pro wrestling career.
