Shawn Michaels: If My Biggest Problem In Life Is Too Many People Use The Superkick, There Is Hardly Anything To Complain About

Shawn Michaels won multiple championships with the Sweet Chin Music, his version of the superkick.

Today, there is a superkick in nearly every match, but it rarely finishes the match. Fans have complained about the move being watered down, but Michaels has a different view.

“With Sweet Chin Music, it was a couple of years after I retired, and getting a phone call. One guy wanted to use it, ‘Is it okay?’ ‘Yeah, it doesn’t matter to me.’ I think it was Dolph Ziggler. ‘Sure, I’m not there anymore.’ I didn’t want to be an old-timer who stopped the progression and evolution of the business. I ran into that a lot. ‘You’re killing the business. You’re going too fast.’ I didn’t want to be one of those guys. Once I said ‘yes’ to that one, it was like opening a floodgate.

“I’m always happy because that question comes up in darn near every interview I do. I still feel like the move is always going to be synonymous with me, which I’m appreciative of. I think to myself, ‘If I’m lying there on my deathbed and the biggest problem in my life is that too many people are using the Sweet Chin Music,’ there is hardly anything to complain about,” told Carmelo Anthony and Kazeem Famuyide on 7PM in Brooklyn.

Michaels joked that his version works with Kazeem noting that it beat people.

Elsewhere during the interview, Michaels commented on why he never faced The Rock. You can find his full comments here.
