Megan Bayne addresses Penelope Ford’s recent injury and the change of now teaming with Lena Kross as a result.

On the February 25th edition of AEW Dynamite, Ford would suffer an injury off of a dive, with Tony Khan later noting that Ford would be possibly out for moths as a result of the injury. This would lead to Bayne shifting tag team partners, now working alongside Lena Kross as Divine Dominion.

While speaking to Renee Paquette in the latest episode of Close Up, Megan Bayne noted that while Ford’s injury is a ‘huge change and very upsetting’, she knows that Ford will continue to be supportive on the sidelines.

“Obviously, this current situation to me is a huge change and it’s very upsetting. But Penelope is an athlete, as we all are. So she knows that this sport comes with a lot of risk and you can’t always avoid injury. It’s never welcomed, but it’s not always avoidable. So I’m obviously upset to not have her by my side. Basically, since I debuted here, full time, we’ve been alongside one another. But at the moment, I think her focus just needs to be on getting back healthy, healing up at home, and my focus is going to remain at keeping the rest of the roster in line. I know that even if it’s temporarily from the sidelines, she’ll be supportive.”

Kross also addressed becoming Bayne’s new tag team partner, noting that pressure isn’t a problem, it’s a privilege.

“Pressure isn’t a problem. It’s a privilege. I know exactly who I am. I know that this is exactly where I’m supposed to be. Some people might say I got it too early, but what I’m doing is proving exactly why I am here and exactly why I am one half of the AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Bayne noted that she and Kross came up with their ‘Divine Dominion’ tag team name. You can read more about that here.
