Cody Rhodes says that he has learned everything it will take to beat Randy Orton from Randy Orton while he was in Legacy.
Rhodes and Orton’s history is long-standing, going back to Cody’s first run in the company where Rhodes would join Orton’s faction, Legacy and later, Orton being the catalyst for him leaving the company. Despite their history, some fans have criticised WWE for not using their history more in the storytelling surrounding their upcoming WrestleMania main event.
While speaking to ESPN’s Get Up in a new interview, Cody Rhodes was asked about he and Orton’s history, noting that he learned everything it will take to beat Orton from the man himself.
“His dad and my dad came up on the roads together, Cowboy Bob, Dusty Rhodes. Randy brought me into WWE. My first match at WWE was against Randy Orton. His faction, the only faction he ever led, Legacy. I was one of the guys in Legacy. I learned everything it will take to beat Randy Orton from Randy Orton.”
Cody was then asked if he had any other message for Randy ahead of their match.
“Get ready to look up at the lights, pal. Yeah, no, at this point, there’s no hugs, there’s no handshakes. All that love that exists between us got thrown away for this Pat McAfee element, and great. Get ready to look up at the lights.
Elsewhere in the same interview, Cody spoke about Pat McAfee’s involvement in the match further, calling him a ‘full blooded’ rat. You can read more about that here.
