ESPN Exec Discusses Balance Of Serving Core WWE Audience While Presenting Product To Casual Sports Fans

The Senior Director chimes on the balance.
There’s an interview on The Walt Disney Company’s website with Meghan Burgoon, Senior Director of Content Integration at ESPN.
Burgoon spoke about how ESPN balances serving the core WWE audience with WrestleMania coverage while also presenting the product to the casual sports fan.
“This balance is at the heart of what ESPN does best. Our role is to engage core fans while also introducing WWE to new audiences and helping grow the fandom. Everyone starts somewhere. We’re delivering content for every level of engagement — from dedicated shows like No-Contest Wrestling and event preview programming for hardcore fans, to integrations on SportsCenter and social-first content that introduce the fun, spectacle, and personalities of WWE to casual viewers. Our strategy reflects a belief that this sport will continue to grow.”
The first hour of nights one and two of WrestleMania 42 will air on ESPN for free. The full event is available exclusively on ESPN Unlimited.
