Rossy Ogawa Comments On Utami Hayashishita Finishing Up With Marigold, Says He’s Not Chasing After Those Who Want To Leave

Ogawa spoke to the press.
Closing out the 4/25 Dream Star Fighting Marigold show was Utami Hayashishita challenging Miku Aono for the Marigold World Championship.
Aono emerged victorious to continue her title reign, but post-match, Hayashishita grabbed a microphone and announced that she would be leaving the promotion and that her final match would be on May 23rd.
After the show wrapped, Marigold founder Rossy Ogawa spoke to the press (via Tokyo Sports). He disclosed that he learned about Hayashishita’s intentions to leave Marigold back in January. He stated that if she wants to leave, it means she does not want to be in Marigold, and he will not try to persuade her to stay.
Ogawa added that he is not chasing after those who want to leave. He feels situations like these are opportunities for the Marigold roster to step up.
The 27-year-old Hayashishita is the second-ever Marigold World Champion. She held the belt for 296 days. Hayashishita exited STARDOM in 2024 and went on to join Marigold for its launch.
During a 2025 interview, Ogawa stated the following about Hayashishita:
“She (Utami Hayashishita) has already bloomed once in STARDOM. I think she has a sense of mission for the organization, but it is difficult for her to bloom a second time. Personally, I want to see her show a toned body as a wrestler. It’s not like the Showa era, so I’m not saying that just because she’s a pro wrestler, she should drink and eat a lot. But I don’t approve of a fat wrestler.”
As more becomes public regarding Hayashishita’s future, we’ll update you here on Fightful.
