Rossy Ogawa: The Fact That Kouki Amarei Hasn’t Become A Superstar Might Also Be Due To Marigold’s Own Shortcomings

Rossy Ogawa speaks in-depth about Amarei.

BBM Sports conducted an interview with Dream Star Fighting Marigold founder Rossy Ogawa. As the conversation moved along, Kouki Amarei became a focal point.

Ogawa spoke highly of the first-ever GHC Women’s Champion and shared his high expectations for her.

He said that although she’s had injury troubles, such as a torn ACL and broken collarbone, part of the reason why Amarei has not become a superstar is maybe due to Marigold’s own shortcomings.

“Kouki (Amarei) is perfect in every way, except for pro wrestling. If she could just do pro wrestling, there would be no complaints. But you know, God doesn’t give us everything… I’m always hoping for it (Amarei’s breakthrough). I think this will be the key to her third year. In the last two years, she’s been the one with the most expectations, but hasn’t left the biggest impact. She did win the GHC (Women’s Title), though.” The interviewer mentioned that Amarei has had bad luck with injuries, and Ogawa responded, “That’s true. But you know, it’s important to have talent like Kouki. The fact that we haven’t been able to bring that out into the open means that the organization lacks the ability to produce.” Ogawa was asked if Amarei’s stagnation is a personal challenge for him, and he said, “I think so. The fact that Kouki hasn’t become a superstar might also be due to our own shortcomings.”

Amarei is 29 years of age and has been with Marigold since the promotion’s launch in 2024.
