Jacob Fatu Attacks Roman Reigns, Referee, Producers After Losing World Title Match At WWE Backlash

Fatu goes berserk after the main event.
Closing out the 2026 Backlash Premium Live Event was the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu. It was Reigns’ first defense of the belt since winning the belt from CM Punk in the main event of WrestleMania 42 night two.
During Fatu’s ring introduction, commentator Michael Cole spoke about his road to WWE and mentioned Fatu competing in GCW, West Coast Pro, and House of Glory.
Fatu had Reigns in the Tongan Death Grip, but Reigns had to shove Fatu into the referee to get out of it. It happened a second time, and during the dust-up, a turnbuckle pad got ripped off. Reigns pushed Fatu into the exposed buckle and went on to spear him to retain the championship.
Fatu was upset and started attacking Reigns. He put the World Heavyweight Champion in the Tongan Death Grip again. Fatu then hit referee Shawn Bennett with a pop-up Samoan Drop. Fatu went after producers too.
Fatu came back to the ring to go after Reigns again. The show closed with Jacob holding up the World Heavyweight Championship.
