Darby Allin discusses how the Hardys influenced him on potentially becoming a professional wrestler as his chosen career.
Allin’s career is one that has been one major spot after another, with Darby feeling he needs to make up for his lack of size with his daring stunts inside the ring. Now, Darby has pointed to his biggest influences.
While speaking to ESPN in a new interview, Darby Allin spoke about the beginning of his pro wrestling career, noting that the Hardy’s made him feel like it was possible to get into wrestling despite his size.
“[Jeff and Matt Hardy] definitely made me feel like it was possible because it wasn’t about their physique,” Allin said. “It was more about whatever they’re willing to endure for the crowd.”
Darby would then speak about an indie event that he attended, noting it was ‘the worst wrestling’ he’d ever seen, but that it made him want to give wrestling a shot.
“If people are paying to see this, maybe I should really give it a shot,” Allin said. “And I just said, ‘Screw it, dude. I’m just going to go all-in on this.'”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Darby spoke about his risk-taking style in pro wrestling and the thought of dying as a result of a spot or stunt. You can read more about that here.
