Carlito Says He Shot Himself In The Foot Signing A Shorter WWE Deal

Carlito left WWE in June 2025 after his contract had expired with the promotion. He was regularly featured on television as a member of the Judgment Day after re-signing in 2023.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Carlito was asked if his departure came as a surprise to him.
“No, because my contract expired,” he said.
Asked if there was a possibility that it could be renewed, he said, “They could have renewed it, but I never went to them. They never came to me. So we never spoke or anything. I just was ready for whatever. I kind of shot myself in the foot because I signed the shorter deal and the usual. So I guess I bet against myself. I signed for two years. They wanted me for three, and I signed for two because I didn’t think it was gonna go as good as it did. So, as I said, I bet against myself, and I would have got an extra year, and then my contract would expire. But ended up losing a year. But that’s all right.”
He has been active on the independent scene since leaving WWE. He was recently backstage at the ROH tapings. Fans can learn more here.
