Samoa Joe Stepping Away From AEW For A Few Months, Says Hollywood Called For Him

Samoa Joe is stepping away from AEW for a bit.

As the May 27th episode of AEW Collision was airing, the feed cut backstage to a segment with The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, HOOK & Anthony Bowens).

Samoa Joe revealed that he’ll be stepping away for a few months because Hollywood came calling. He told the remainder of the group to keep things in order while he’s gone.

There is no word on what Joe will be filming, but he’s stepped away from AEW several times to film the ‘Twisted Metal’ series on Peacock. Joe plays the role of Sweet Tooth.

Twisted Metal has been renewed for a third season and is expected to premiere in 2027. If Fightful has an update on why Joe is stepping away, we’ll update you here on the site.
