Original El Grande Americano Officially Revealed As Chad Gable After Losing Mask vs. Mask Match At AAA Noches de Los Grandes

Original El Grande Americano officially revealed as Chad Gable.

Headlining week one of Lucha Libre AAA’s Noches de Los Grandes special from Monterrey, Mexico was a Mask versus Mask match that saw El Grande Americano versus Original El Grande Americano. AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio left commentary to head to the ring for the introductions. The crowd in attendance chanted ‘Shorty G’ at the Original El Grande.

Original attacked El Grande before the bell. During the bout, Original tried to rip El Grande’s mask apart. He also busted El Grande open with punches to the face. El Grande would go on to rip Original’s mask as well.

When El Grande had Original pinned, Los Americanos Hermanos (Bruto Creedo & Julio Creedo) showed up and pulled him off. They put El Grande through the commentary table. Los Americanos (Rayo Americano & Bravo Americano) jetted to the ring to offset Original El Grande’s allies. They fought up the entrance stage, and Bravo ended up climbing up into the stands and jumping onto Julio and Creedo.

Back at ringside, Original picked a fight with comedian Alexis Arroyo a.k.a. Ojitos de Huevo. It was in April that Original put Ojitos in an ankle lock at a AAA event. When they met this go-around, Ojitos beat Original with a walking stick.

When Original returned to the ring, one of the mariachi performers from the entrances attacked him. It was revealed to be Pimpinela Escarlata, who Original put on the shelf. Later in the bout, Andrea Bazarte came down to ringside through the crowd to cheer on her real-life boyfriend, El Grande Americano (Marcel Barthel/Ludwig Kaiser). She had a ticket on hand because Original wanted her fired from AAA as part of his stipulations for the Mask versus Mask match. She was an interviewer for AAA.

AAA commentator and WWE Hall of Famer J.B.L. (John Bradshaw Layfield) referenced Barthel and Andrea’s altercation with another male in Florida that led to Barthel being arrested. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for July. The judge presiding over the case granted Barthel permission to travel within the USA and internationally for the duration of the trial, but he must make his court dates.

El Grande put Original away with his charging headbutt for the win to a thunderous crowd reaction. El Grande hugged Pimpinela at ringside and celebrated with Andrea and Los Americanos.

Before the unmasking of Original, he was joined by his wife and three children. He addressed the loss and stated that he’ll always be the Original, but the winner of the match is now the only El Grande. He then revealed himself to be Chad Gable.

Gable stated that he does not know when, but he will be back in AAA and thanked the crowd as they chanted his name. He handed his mask over to El Grande.

As El Grande Americano made his way up the stage, the crowd in attendance cheered for him and then chanted for The Undertaker, who is the booker of AAA.
