Mick Foley Wasn’t Sure MJF Could Project Toughness, ‘I Was Wrong’

Mick Foley has praise for MJF.
On Foley’s first day on the job at AEW Double or Nothing, he went toe-to-toe on the microphone with MJF, who ended up kicking Foley in the dick. MJF has established himself as the top star in AEW over the years, and though Foley saw it early with the reigning AEW Champion, he did have a concern.
“I was sold on MJF from the moment I saw him at an independent show in Alaska in 2018-19. I thought, ‘What a fantastic independent heel this guy is.’ Honestly, I didn’t think he could project toughness at that point. I thought, ‘Nothing wrong with being a great independent heel, but I don’t know if he can project toughness where he can contend with the top guys in the organization.’ I’m happy to admit I was wrong on that because he does and he can. He was good already on the microphone, and I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say he’s the best in the business on the microphone. He’s great,” Foley told Ariel Helwani.
Elsewhere during the interview, Foley commented on the possibility of having one last match. You can find his full comments here.
