MJF Praises Lio Rush For Switching Up His Character, ‘I Respect That Immensely’

MJF puts over Lio Rush.

Rush has been a popular topic of conversation as of late, specifically due to his recent pivot to the Blackheart gimmick. Fans are fairly split on the character, which has afforded him more television time in AEW.

Speaking with Shut Up And Wrestle for a new interview, MJF applauded Lio Rush for trying something new.

“Me and him both got signed very young. Me to AEW, him to WWE. It would’ve been very easy for him to rest on his laurels, but that dude trains all the time. That dude then realized, okay, this thing I’ve been doing for a decade, it’s not working anymore, I’m gonna switch it up. Now, again, as we discussed, his flavor of ice cream that he’s doing now might not be your flavor of ice cream that you’re interested in, but it’s got him on television. It’s got him opportunities. He’s going on the indies, he’s doing this blackheart thing on the independents as well. So, you can’t look me in the face and tell me this guy isn’t earning his television time. I respect that immensely and I wish there were more guys like that in our age group.”

Elsewhere in the interview, MJF provided a brief update on his knee injury. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
