AJ Styles Explains Why He Defends WWE Despite Fan Criticism: I’m Putting Over My Friends That I Care For Who Work There

AJ Styles explains why he puts over WWE despite fans being critical of them.

Since retiring from wrestling, AJ Styles has created a podcast called The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, where he discusses retro gaming and shares his thoughts on the wrestling product. On his podcast, Styles has defended WWE on many occasions, which many fans have been critical of.

On the latest edition of The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, Styles explained that when he puts over WWE, he’s actually putting over his friends who also work there.

“I think a lot of people think, ‘Oh, he’s a freaking whatever, because he always puts over WWE.’ I’m like, ‘To be honest with you, I’m putting over my friends, colleagues, peers and people that I care for that work there.’ I want to make sure that they’re in a good place. If I dog WWE every second, then I’m not doing any favors. So I am going to promote WWE because I have people that I care about that are there and people who are continuing in the PC that will be up there one day. I want to make sure that it’s a good place to be. It’s not a negative thing always. I mean, it’s not always going to be perfect, but nothing is. So I want to do what I can to make sure there’s some positive influence in what’s going on. The fans, they’re always going to find something wrong, and that’s okay. But there’s also positive things too.”

Styles’ recent comments about wins and losses in wrestling sparked a debate among fans. The Phenomenal One clarified what he actually meant there on the latest edition of his podcasts. Fans can read his comments about that here
