Andre Chase: NXT Heard The Crowd Going Crazy For Me, They Just Didn’t Want It

Andre Chase became one of the most popular figures in NXT thanks to the formation of Chase U.

The group was abruptly disbanded in 2024, and a reboot was tried in 2025, but ultimately failed. The reboot started with Chase being depressed, only for new students Kale Dixon & Uriah Connors to pick him up.

Chase tried to get back on his feet against Josh Briggs on a September 2025 episode of NXT, but it’s not what those backstage wanted.

“There was one part where I hit him with something and the crowd was really high. I turned to them and I fire up, and they go even louder. It was the highest they’ve been since the Ridge match when they had no reason to because I’ve just been beat and beat. I heard it and felt it. We get to the back, and Shawn goes, ‘Chase, you had them in the palm of your hand. They were blowing the roof off, why did you go to the people?’ I was like, ‘I’m not crazy. You guys hear what I can do, but you don’t want that.’ That’s when I was like, I’m not going to be able to change their minds. Six months later (I was released). I needed to know that y’all heard that and that I wasn’t going crazy, that when I’m out here, the people are going crazy. He proved a point: he did hear it, it’s just not what he wanted. Six months later, that was it,” recalled Chase as he spoke with Duke Hanson (Duke Hudson) on Between Two Jobs.

Elsewhere during the interview, Chase revealed when he knew he would be leaving WWE. You can find his full comments here.
