Orange Cassidy recalls Tony Khan wanting him to wrestle for the first time against PAC on pay-per-view in 2020.

At AEW Revolution in 2020, AEW fans would see Orange Cassidy ‘try’ for the first time in his AEW career as he took on PAC in singles action. Up until that point, fans had not seen Cassidy put that kind of effort into any action he took in AEW beforehand. Now, he has explained who had that idea.

While speaking to The Extreme Channel in a new interview, Orange Cassidy shared that it was Tony Khan’s idea for him to ‘try’ for the first time at AEW Revolution 2020.

“I don’t know. Tony Khan is… I’m trying to think about how to answer this because Tony Khan saw something in me and purposely purposefully had me do nothing wrestling wise. He had this idea that the first time I was going to wrestle was going to be at a pay-per-view and that was in 2020 against PAC. I had some matches, but I barely did anything because I couldn’t be bothered to anyway, but you know it was a… I think he put a lot of faith in me that I wasn’t gonna do anything that would disrespect professional wrestling or embarrass AEW or something. But he just put faith in me that I would be able to deliver, and, and he still utilizes me and I’m ever so grateful that I’m able to be on TV as much as I am, and he gives me stuff and, I try to do the best I can with it, but it was- I mean, The Young Bucks knew who I was, The Young Bucks knew who I was and they had a lot of faith in me and it was- Tony was quickly on board when they got to talking with him. So, yeah, t was, it was always the plan.”

Elsewhere in another interview, Orange noted that he and The Rizzler ‘are boys’. You can read more about that here.
