Mick Foley reflects on cutting ties with WWE due to the Donald Trump administration, noting how his pay scale has changed since.
In late 2025, Foley would announce that he would no longer be making WWE appearances while the company was tied to Donald Trump’s presidential administration and would later sign with All Elite Wrestling in a broadcasting role. Now, he has explained how his pay scale shifted following cutting ties with WWE.
While speaking to Going Ringside in a new interview, Mick Foley spoke about cutting ties with WWE, noting that he had to work 24 hours on his own to make what he made in four hours with WWE.
“It was a difficult decision to make, to kind of cut ties with them. I hadn’t been employed by them for many years, I was an independent contractor, but I did have a merchandising deal. I had a couple really easy, high-paying events at WrestleMania weekend. As it turned out, I had to work 24 hours on my own to make what I would have made in four with WWE. But I’m okay with that. I believe if you want something, you go after it and you work hard for it.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Foley spoke about a potential opponent should he return to the ring with AEW. You can read more about that here.
