On the July 25th, 2022 edition of WWE Monday Night RAW Austin Theory would confront Roman Reigns and The Bloodline with his Money In The Bank briefcase, leading to Reigns dropping a comment about Theory’s daddy (Vince McMahon) no longer being with the company following his retirement, but the pair would not cross paths before Theory would use his briefcase to attempt to win the United States title.
While speaking to IMPAULSIVE in a new interview, Austin Theory would reflect on his run with the Money In The Bank briefcase, noting that he would have been ok with losing his championship match to Roman Reigns.
“I will say I’m gonna go and run the play always if we really need it to be this way. I think for me I just felt like even with the moment I had with Roman, it was I believe at maybe (the) Barclays Center? He hit me with the, ‘Your daddy’s not here anymore’. In that moment I wanted to say the same thing to him because in a way, he’s a Vince guy as well. Not in a way, he was. But I felt like there could have been a moment. I knew I wasn’t gonna get the title off Roman, but even just building it to seem like, ‘Oh, here we go’. Then I can lose to him, whatever, but just give it more of a payoff because it felt cool. I did a lot of cool things with it.”
In a previous interview, Theory spoke about being hated by fans. You can read more about that here.
